In the Franches-Montagnes, calm never equates to boredom. With walks, sporting activities, events and cultural attractions there is so much to see and do! Cycling, mountain biking or even off-road scooter rides, there are so many other enticing activities for you to enjoy in the region.
Our region is a Mecca for horse-riders with numerous marked courses. Horses are everywhere, and the region even produces its own breed – the Franche-Montagne horse – with its distinctive mocha coat and gracious long black mane. Try something different: take a ride through the Franches-Montagnes in a horse-drawn carriage. Not to be missed: the Saignelégier Horse Show, on the second weekend in August, always a long-awaited and spectacular horse show and race, which attracts more than 40,000 visitors each year.
Are you a golf lover? A magnificent 18-hole course awaits you in Les Bois.
Why not also visit the extraordinary Watch Box Museum in Le Noirmont, displaying its exquisite collection of 19th and 20th century watchmaking tools (tours for 10 people or more).
La Traction offers you the chance to jump aboard the Franches-Montagnes Steam Train for an unforgettable journey back in time through magnificent landscapes. If you find rail history stimulating, visit the Delémont Roundhouse, one of the last such structures in Switzerland, restored in 1997 and home to various steam locomotives.
The River Doubs is a dream for canoeing / kayaking and for trout fishing (one of the greatest fly-fishing stretches is at Goumois). In winter, 100 km of waymarked trails lend themselves to excellent cross-country skiing tours. The conditions are also ideal for snowshoes – or how about a ride on a husky-sled?
